| What
is a Compliance Inspection?
A compliance Inspection is now required
in many counties in Minnesota before a property can be sold or transferred. A
county may also require a pumping certificate of the septic tank
(s). The outcomes of of a compliance inspection are:
Outcomes:
Compliant: This
means the septic system is up to todays codes and can be
transferred without and difficulties or modifications.
Noncompliant: This
means that the septic system drainfield treatment area is not
up to todays codes. Generally, the property can be transferred
to a new owner, but the new owner may need to upgrade or install
a new system if improvements to the property requiring a building
permit are performed.
Failed or Imminent Health Threat: This
outcome requires a new septic system to be designed and installed
immediately because of health concerns to life or environment.
